Oma's Birthay
Oma's Birthday was on November First. In order to celebrate the occasion we filled the day with one of her, and most everyones, favorite things... eating. We drove to a small farm house in a town on the hillside. Underneath the house was a small basement that served as a celebration restaurant for large groups of people. We arrived around 11 and our group grew until we were joined by Oma. We had appetizers outside than meandered down to the basement. Our fist course was a soup, followed by a salad, followed by a main course (swiss style pasta and vegetables), followed by dessert (I chose the white chocolate toblerone pudding), followed by cake. We ate until about 6:30! In between music filled our ears from Sami and Miri playing 'What would ya do with a drunkin' Sailor?' to semi-professional violinists to an amazing song my host mother wrote all about Oma. I also enjoyed hearing all the stories told, seeing gifts exchanges, and smiles shared.
